Optimizing Optimal -calculus Implementations

چکیده
In As94], a correspondence between Lamping-Gonthier's operators for Optimal Reduction of the-calculus Lam90, GAL92a] and the operations associated with the comonad \!" of Linear Logic was established. In this paper, we put this analogy at work, adding new rewriting rules directly suggested by the categorical equations of the comonad. These rules produce an impressive improvement of the performance of the reduction system, and provide a rst step towards the solution of the well known and crucial problem of accumulation of control operators.

Sharing Implementations of Graph Rewriting Systems
Sharing graphs are a brilliant solution to the implementation of Lévy optimal reductions of λ-calculus. Sharing graphs are interesting on their own and optimal sharing reductions are just a particular reduction strategy of a more general sharing reduction system. The paper is a gentle introduction to sharing graphs and tries to confute some of the common myths on the difficulty of sharing imple...
متن کاملOptimal Operation of a DWC by Self-Optimizing Control: Active Vapor Split Approach
Dividing Wall Column(DWC) offers the large potential for operating and capital cost saving in compared with conventional distillation sequence. In the studied DWC in this study, the aid of Vmin diagrams, it is shown that without a suitable value for vapor split fraction bellow the dividing wall in different operating conditions, the energy requirement increases from optimal value and it wil...
متن کاملProperties of a First - order Functional Language with SharingZena
A calculus and a model for a rst-order functional language with sharing is presented. In most implementations of functional languages, argument subexpressions in a function application are shared to avoid their repeated evaluation. Recursive functions are typically implemented using graphs with cycles. Compilers for these languages sometimes employ non-left-linear and left-cyclic rules for opti...

متن کاملIdentification of Temperature Dependent Parameters in Radiative Heat Transfer
Laser-induced thermotherapy (LITT) is an established minimally invasive percutaneous technique of tumor ablation. Nevertheless, there is a need to predict the effect of laser applications and optimizing irradiation planning in LITT. Optical attributes (absorption, scattering) change due to thermal denaturation. The work presents the possibility to identify these temperature dependent parameters...
